Chapters 1-9
Chapter 1
1) Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers. | א. אַשְׁרֵי הָאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר לֹא־הָלַךְ בַּעֲצַת רְשָׁעִים וּבְדֶרֶךְ חַטָּאִים לֹא עָמָד וּבְמוֹשַׁב לֵצִים לֹא יָשָׁב |
2) But his delight is in the Torah of the Lord, and in His Torah he meditates day and night. | ב. כִּי אִם־בְּתוֹרַת יְיָ חֶפְצוֹ וּבְתוֹרָתוֹ יֶהְגֶּה יוֹמָם וָלָיְלָה |
3) He shall be like a tree planted by streams of water, that yields its fruit in its season, and whose leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers. | ג. וְהָיָה כְּעֵץ שָׁתוּל עַל־פַּלְגֵי מָיִם אֲשֶׁר פִּרְיוֹ יִתֵּן בְּעִתּוֹ וְעָלֵהוּ לֹא־יִבּוֹל וְכֹל אֲשֶׁר־יַעֲשֶׂה יַצְלִיחַ |
4) Not so the wicked! They are like chaff which the wind drives away. | ד. לֹא־כֵן הָרְשָׁעִים כִּי אִם־כַּמֹּץ אֲשֶׁר־תִּדְּפֶנּוּ רוּחַ |
5) Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. | ה. עַל־כֵּן לֹא־יָקֻמוּ רְשָׁעִים בַּמִּשְׁפָּט וְחַטָּאִים בַּעֲדַת צַדִּיקִים |
6) For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked shall perish. | ו. כִּי־יוֹדֵעַ יְיָ דֶּרֶךְ צַדִּיקִים וְדֶרֶךְ רְשָׁעִים תֹּאבֵד |
Chapter 2
1) Why do the nations rage, and the peoples imagine a vain thing? | א. לָמָּה רָגְשׁוּ גוֹיִם וּלְאֻמִּים יֶהְגּוּ־רִיק |
2) The kings of the earth stand firm, and the rulers conspire together against the Lord and against His anointed, saying: | ב. יִתְיַצְּבוּ מַלְכֵי־אֶרֶץ וְרוֹזְנִים נוֹסְדוּ־יָחַד עַל־יְיָ וְעַל־מְשִׁיחוֹ |
3) “Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.” | ג. נְנַתְּקָה אֶת־מוֹסְרוֹתֵימוֹ וְנַשְׁלִיכָה מִמֶּנּוּ עֲבֹתֵימוֹ |
4) He who sits in the heavens will laugh; the Lord will mock them. | ה. אָז יְדַבֵּר אֵלֵימוֹ בְאַפּוֹ וּבַחֲרוֹנוֹ יְבַהֲלֵמוֹ |
5) Then He will speak to them in His anger, and terrify them in His wrath: | ה. אָז יְדַבֵּר אֵלֵימוֹ בְאַפּוֹ וּבַחֲרוֹנוֹ יְבַהֲלֵמוֹ |
6) “But as for Me, I have installed My king upon Zion, My holy mountain.” | ו. וַאֲנִי נָסַכְתִּי מַלְכִּי עַל־צִיּוֹן הַר־קָדְשִׁי |
7) I will relate the decree of the Lord: He said to me, “You are My son; today I have begotten you.” | ז. אֲסַפְּרָה אֶל־חֹק יְיָ אָמַר אֵלַי בְּנִי אַתָּה אֲנִי הַיּוֹם יְלִדְתִּיךָ |
8) Ask of Me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, and the ends of the earth your possession. | ח. שְׁאַל מִמֶּנִּי וְאֶתְּנָה גוֹיִם נַחֲלָתֶךָ וַאֲחֻזָּתְךָ אַפְסֵי־אָרֶץ |
9) You shall break them with an iron rod; you shall shatter them like a potter’s vessel. | ט. תְּרֹעֵם בְּשֵׁבֶט בַּרְזֶל כִּכְלִי יוֹצֵר תְּנַפְּצֵם |
10) And now, O kings, be wise; be admonished, you judges of the earth. | י. וְעַתָּה מְלָכִים הַשְׂכִּילוּ הִוָּסְרוּ שֹׁפְטֵי אָרֶץ |
11) Serve the Lord with awe, and rejoice with trembling. | יא. עִבְדוּ אֶת־יְיָ בְּיִרְאָה וְגִילוּ בִּרְעָדָה |
12) Pay homage in purity, lest He be angry and you perish in the way, for His wrath may quickly flare. Happy are all who take refuge in Him. | יב. נַשְּׁקוּ־בַר פֶּן־יֶאֱנַף וְתֹאבְדוּ דֶרֶךְ כִּי־יִבְעַר כִּמְעַט אַפּוֹ אַשְׁרֵי כָּל־חוֹסֵי בוֹ |
Chapter 3
1) A psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son. | א. מִזְמוֹר לְדָוִד בְּבָרְחוֹ מִפְּנֵי אַבְשָׁלוֹם בְּנוֹ |
2) Lord, how numerous are my foes! Many rise up against me. | ב. יְיָ מָה־רַבּוּ צָרָי רַבִּים קָמִים עָלָי |
3) Many say of my soul, “There is no salvation for him through God.” Selah. | ג. רַבִּים אֹמְרִים לְנַפְשִׁי אֵין יְשׁוּעָתָה לוֹ בֵאלֹהִים סֶלָה |
4) But You, Lord, are a shield for me, my glory, and the One who lifts up my head. | ד. וְאַתָּה יְיָ מָגֵן בַּעֲדִי כְּבוֹדִי וּמֵרִים רֹאשִׁי |
5) I cried aloud to the Lord, and He answered me from His holy mountain. Selah. | ה. קוֹלִי אֶל־יְיָ אֶקְרָא וַיַּעֲנֵנִי מֵהַר קָדְשׁוֹ סֶלָה |
6) I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord sustains me. | ו. אֲנִי שָׁכַבְתִּי וָאִישָׁנָה הֱקִיצוֹתִי כִּי־יְיָ יִסְמְכֵנִי |
7) I will not fear the myriads of people who have set themselves against me all around. | ז. לֹא־אִירָא מֵרִבְבוֹת עָם אֲשֶׁר סָבִיב שָׁתוּ עָלָי |
8) Arise, Lord! Save me, my God, for You have struck all my enemies on the cheek; You have broken the teeth of the wicked. | ח. קוּמָה יְיָ הוֹשִׁיעֵנִי אֱלֹהַי כִּי־הִכִּיתָ אֶת־כָּל־אֹיְבַי לֶחִי שִׁנֵּי רְשָׁעִים שִׁבַּרְתָּ |
9) Salvation belongs to the Lord; Your blessing be upon Your people. Selah. | ט. לַיְיָ הַיְּשׁוּעָה עַל־עַמְּךָ בִרְכָתֶךָ סֶלָה |
Chapter 4
1) For the leader, with neginoth: A psalm of David. | א. לַמְנַצֵּחַ בִּנְגִינוֹת מִזְמוֹר לְדָוִד |
2) When I call, answer me, O God of my righteousness. In distress You gave me relief; be gracious to me and hear my prayer. | ב. בְּקָרְאִי עֲנֵנִי אֱלֹהֵי צִדְקִי בַּצָּר הִרְחַבְתָּ לִּי חָנֵּנִי וּשְׁמַע תְּפִלָּתִי |
3) Sons of men, how long will my honor be turned to shame? How long will you love vanity, and seek after falsehood? Selah. | ג. בְּנֵי אִישׁ עַד־מֶה כְבוֹדִי לִכְלִמָּה תֶּאֱהָבוּן רִיק תְּבַקְשׁוּ כָזָב סֶלָה |
4) Know that the Lord has set apart the pious one for Himself; the Lord will hear when I call to Him. | ד. וּדְעוּ כִּי־הִפְלָה יְיָ חָסִיד לוֹ יְיָ יִשְׁמַע בְּקָרְאִי אֵלָיו |
5) Tremble, and do not sin; reflect in your hearts upon your beds, and be still. Selah. | ה. רִגְזוּ וְאַל־תֶּחֱטָאוּ אִמְרוּ בִלְבַבְכֶם עַל־מִשְׁכַּבְכֶם וְדֹמּוּ סֶלָה |
6) Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and trust in the Lord. | ו. זִבְחוּ זִבְחֵי־צֶדֶק וּבִטְחוּ אֶל־יְיָ |
7) Many say, “Who will show us good?” Lift up the light of Your countenance upon us, O Lord. | ז. רַבִּים אֹמְרִים מִי יַרְאֵנוּ־טוֹב נְסָה־עָלֵינוּ אוֹר פָּנֶיךָ יְיָ |
8) You have placed joy in my heart, more than when their grain and new wine abound. | ח. נָתַתָּה שִׂמְחָה בְלִבִּי מֵעֵת דְּגָנָם וְתִירוֹשָׁם רָבּוּ |
9) In peace I will both lie down and sleep, for You alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety. | ט. בְּשָׁלוֹם יַחְדָּו אֶשְׁכְּבָה וְאִישָׁן כִּי־אַתָּה יְיָ לְבָדָד לָבֶטַח תּוֹשִׁיבֵנִי |
Chapter 5
1) For the leader, on the nechiloth: A psalm of David. | א. לַמְנַצֵּחַ אֶל־הַנְּחִילוֹת מִזְמוֹר לְדָוִד |
2) Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation. | ב. אֲמָרַי הַאֲזִינָה יְיָ בִּינָה הֲגִיגִי |
3) Listen to the voice of my cry, my King and my God, for to You I pray. | ג. הַקְשִׁיבָה לְקוֹל שַׁוְעִי מַלְכִּי וֵאלֹהָי כִּי־אֵלֶיךָ אֶתְפַּלָּל |
4) Lord, in the morning You hear my voice; in the morning I arrange my prayer before You and watch. | ד. יְיָ בֹּקֶר תִּשְׁמַע קוֹלִי בֹּקֶר אֶעֱרָךְ־לְךָ וַאֲצַפֶּה |
5) For You are not a God who desires wickedness; evil does not dwell with You. | ה. כִּי לֹא אֵל חָפֵץ רֶשַׁע אָתָּה לֹא־יְגוּרְךָ רָע |
6) The arrogant shall not stand before Your eyes; You hate all workers of iniquity. | ו. לֹא־יִתְיַצְּבוּ הוֹלְלִים לְנֶגֶד עֵינֶיךָ שָׂנֵאתָ כָּל־פֹּעֲלֵי אָוֶן |
7) You destroy those who speak lies; the Lord abhors the man of bloodshed and deceit. | ז. תְּאַבֵּד דֹּבְרֵי כָזָב אִישׁ דָּמִים וּמִרְמָה יְתָעֵב יְיָ |
8) But as for me, through Your abundant kindness I will enter Your house; I will bow down toward Your holy Temple in awe of You. | ח. וַאֲנִי בְּרֹב חַסְדְּךָ אָבוֹא בֵיתֶךָ אֶשְׁתַּחֲוֶה אֶל־הֵיכַל קָדְשְׁךָ בְּיִרְאָתֶךָ |
9) Lord, guide me in Your righteousness because of my enemies; make Your way straight before me. | ט. יְיָ נְחֵנִי בְצִדְקָתֶךָ לְמַעַן שׁוֹרְרָי הַיְשַׁר לְפָנַי דַּרְכֶּךָ |
10) For there is no sincerity in their mouth; their inward part is destruction; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongue. | י. כִּי אֵין בְּפִיהוּ נְכוֹנָה קִרְבָּם הַוּוֹת קֶבֶר פָּתוּחַ גְּרוֹנָם לְשׁוֹנָם יַחֲלִיקוּן |
11) Declare them guilty, O God! Let them fall by their own counsels; banish them because of their many transgressions, for they have rebelled against You. | יא. הַאֲשִׁימֵם אֱלֹהִים יִפְּלוּ מִמֹּעֲצוֹתֵיהֶם בְּרֹב פִּשְׁעֵיהֶם הַדִּיחֵמוֹ כִּי־מָרוּ בָךְ |
12) But let all those who take refuge in You rejoice; let them ever sing for joy. Spread Your protection over them, that those who love Your name may exult in You. | יב. וְיִשְׂמְחוּ כָל־חוֹסֵי בָךְ לְעוֹלָם יְרַנֵּנוּ וְתָסֵךְ עָלֵימוֹ וְיַעְלְצוּ בְךָ אֹהֲבֵי שְׁמֶךָ |
13) For You, Lord, bless the righteous; You surround him with favor like a shield. | יג. כִּי־אַתָּה תְבָרֵךְ צַדִּיק יְיָ כַּצִּנָּה רָצוֹן תַּעְטְרֶנּוּ |
Chapter 6
1) For the leader, with the neginoth, on the Sheminith: A psalm of David. | א. לַמְנַצֵּחַ בִּנְגִינוֹת עַל־הַשְּׁמִינִית מִזְמוֹר לְדָוִד |
2) Lord, do not rebuke me in Your anger, nor chasten me in Your wrath. | ב. יְיָ אַל־בְּאַפְּךָ תוֹכִיחֵנִי וּבַחֲמָתְךָ תְיַסְּרֵנִי |
3) Be gracious to me, Lord, for I am weak; heal me, Lord, for my bones are terrified. | ג. חָנֵּנִי יְיָ כִּי אֻמְלַל אָנִי רְפָאֵנִי יְיָ כִּי נִבְהֲלוּ עֲצָמָי |
4) And my soul is greatly troubled; but You, Lord—how long? | ד. וְנַפְשִׁי נִבְהֲלָה מְאֹד וְאַתָּה יְיָ עַד־מָתָי |
5) Return, Lord, deliver my soul; save me for the sake of Your kindness. | ה. שׁוּבָה יְיָ חַלְּצָה נַפְשִׁי הוֹשִׁיעֵנִי לְמַעַן חַסְדֶּךָ |
6) For in death there is no remembrance of You; in Sheol who will give You thanks? | ו. כִּי אֵין בַּמָּוֶת זִכְרֶךָ בִּשְׁאוֹל מִי יוֹדֶה־לָּךְ |
7) I am weary with my groaning; every night I flood my bed, I drench my couch with my tears. | ז. יָגַעְתִּי בְּאַנְחָתִי אַשְׂחֶה בְכָל־לַיְלָה מִטָּתִי בְּדִמְעָתִי עַרְשִׂי אַמְסֶה |
8) My eye wastes away because of grief; it grows old because of all my adversaries. | ח. עָשְׁשָׁה מִכַּעַס עֵינִי עָתְקָה בְּכָל־צוֹרְרָי |
9) Depart from me, all workers of iniquity, for the Lord has heard the sound of my weeping. | ט. סוּרוּ מִמֶּנִּי כָּל־פֹּעֲלֵי אָוֶן כִּי־שָׁמַע יְיָ קוֹל בְּכִיִּי |
10) The Lord has heard my supplication; the Lord accepts my prayer. | י. שָׁמַע יְיָ תְּחִנָּתִי יְיָ תְּפִלָּתִי יִקָּח |
11) All my enemies shall be ashamed and greatly terrified; they shall turn back, they shall be suddenly ashamed. | יא. יֵבֹשׁוּ וְיִבָּהֲלוּ מְאֹד כָּל־אֹיְבָי יָשֻׁבוּ יֵבֹשׁוּ רָגַע |
Chapter 7
1) A Shiggaion of David, which he sang to the Lord concerning the words of Cush the Benjamite. | א. שִׁגָּיוֹן לְדָוִד אֲשֶׁר־שָׁר לַיהוָה עַל־דִּבְרֵי־כוּשׁ בֶּן־יְמִינִי |
2) Lord my God, in You I take refuge; save me from all who pursue me and deliver me. | ב. יְיָ אֱלֹהַי בְּךָ חָסִיתִי הוֹשִׁיעֵנִי מִכָּל־רֹדְפַי וְהַצִּילֵנִי |
3) Lest he tear my soul like a lion, rending it in pieces, with none to deliver. | ג. פֶּן־יִטְרֹף כַּאֲרִי נַפְשִׁי פֹּרֵק וְאֵין מַצִּיל |
4) Lord my God, if I have done this, if there is injustice in my hands— | ד. יְיָ אֱלֹהַי אִם־עָשִׂיתִי זֹאת אִם־יֵשׁ עָוֶל בְּכַפָּי |
5) If I have repaid my ally with evil, or plundered my foe without cause— | ה. אִם־גָּמַלְתִּי שׁוֹלְמִי רָע וָאֲחַלְּצָה צוֹרְרִי רֵיקָם |
6) Then let the enemy pursue my soul and overtake it; let him trample my life to the ground and lay my honor in the dust. Selah. | ו. יִרְדֹּף אוֹיֵב נַפְשִׁי וְיַשֵּׂג וְיִרְמֹס לָאָרֶץ חַיָּי וּכְבוֹדִי לֶעָפָר יַשְׁכֵּן סֶּלָה |
7) Arise, Lord, in Your anger; lift Yourself up against the fury of my enemies; awaken for me the justice You have commanded. | ז. קוּמָה יְיָ בְּאַפֶּךָ הִנָּשֵׂא בְעַבְרוֹת צוֹרְרָי וְעוּרָה אֵלַי מִשְׁפָּט צִוִּיתָ |
8) Let the assembly of nations surround You, and over it return on high. | ח. וַעֲדַת לְאֻמִּים תְּסוֹבְבֶךָ וְעָלֶיהָ לַמָּרוֹם שׁוּבָה |
9) The Lord judges the peoples; judge me, Lord, according to my righteousness and according to my integrity within me. | ט. יְיָ יָדִין עַמִּים שָׁפְטֵנִי יְיָ כְּצִדְקִי וּכְתֻמִּי עָלָי |
10) Let the evil of the wicked come to an end, but establish the righteous; for the righteous God tests the hearts and kidneys. | י. יִגְמָר־נָא רַע רְשָׁעִים וּתְכוֹנֵן צַדִּיק וּבֹחֵן לִבּוֹת וּכְלָיוֹת אֱלֹהִים צַדִּיק |
11) My shield is with God, who saves the upright in heart. | יא. מָגִנִּי עַל־אֱלֹהִים מוֹשִׁיעַ יִשְׁרֵי־לֵב |
12) God is a righteous judge, and a God who is indignant every day. | יב. אֱלֹהִים שׁוֹפֵט צַדִּיק וְאֵל זֹעֵם בְּכָל־יוֹם |
13) If one does not repent, He will sharpen His sword; He has bent His bow and made it ready. | יג. אִם־לֹא יָשׁוּב חַרְבּוֹ יִלְטוֹשׁ קַשְׁתּוֹ דָרַךְ וַיְכוֹנְנֶהָ |
14) He has prepared deadly weapons for him; He makes His arrows into fiery shafts. | יד. וְלוֹ הֵכִין כְּלֵי־מָוֶת חִצָּיו לְדֹלְקִים יִפְעָל |
15) Behold, he travails with iniquity, conceives mischief, and brings forth falsehood. | טו. הִנֵּה יְחַבֶּל־אָוֶן וְהָרָה עָמָל וְיָלַד שָׁקֶר |
16) He dug a pit and hollowed it out, and has fallen into the trap he made. | טז. בּוֹר כָּרָה וַיַּחְפְּרֵהוּ וַיִּפֹּל בְּשַׁחַת יִפְעָל |
17) His mischief shall return on his own head, and his violence shall descend on his crown. | יז. יָשׁוּב עֲמָלוֹ בְרֹאשׁוֹ וְעַל־קָדְקֳדוֹ חֲמָסוֹ יֵרֵד |
18) I will thank the Lord according to His righteousness, and will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High. | יח. אוֹדֶה יְיָ כְּצִדְקוֹ וַאֲזַמְּרָה שֵׁם־יְיָ עֶלְיוֹן |
Chapter 8
1) For the leader; upon the Gittith. A psalm of David. | א. לַמְנַצֵּחַ עַל־הַגִּתִּית מִזְמוֹר לְדָוִד |
2) Lord, our Master, how majestic is Your name in all the earth, You who set Your splendor above the heavens! | ב. יְיָ אֲדֹנֵינוּ מָה־אַדִּיר שִׁמְךָ בְּכָל־הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר תְּנָה הוֹדְךָ עַל־הַשָּׁמָיִם |
3) Out of the mouth of infants and sucklings You established strength, because of Your adversaries, to put an end to enemy and avenger. | ג. מִפִּי עוֹלְלִים וְיֹנְקִים יִסַּדְתָּ עֹז לְמַעַן צוֹרְרֶיךָ לְהַשְׁבִּית אוֹיֵב וּמִתְנַקֵּם |
4) When I behold Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars which You have set in place— | ד. כִּי־אֶרְאֶה שָׁמֶיךָ מַעֲשֵׂי אֶצְבְּעֹתֶיךָ יָרֵחַ וְכוֹכָבִים אֲשֶׁר כּוֹנָנְתָּה |
5) What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You take account of him? | ה. מָה־אֱנוֹשׁ כִּי־תִזְכְּרֶנּוּ וּבֶן־אָדָם כִּי תִפְקְדֶנּוּ |
6) Yet You made him a little lower than divine beings, and crowned him with glory and honor. | ו. וַתְּחַסְּרֵהוּ מְּעַט מֵאֱלֹהִים וְכָבוֹד וְהָדָר תְּעַטְּרֵהוּ |
7) You gave him dominion over the works of Your hands; You placed everything under his feet: | ז. תַּמְשִׁילֵהוּ בְּמַעֲשֵׂי יָדֶיךָ כֹּל שַׁתָּה תַחַת רַגְלָיו |
8) Flocks and cattle, all of them, and also the beasts of the field, | ח. צֹנֶה וַאֲלָפִים כֻּלָּם וְגַם בַּהֲמוֹת שָׂדָי |
9) The birds of the sky and the fish of the sea, whatever passes through the paths of the seas. | ט. צִפּוֹר שָׁמַיִם וּדְגֵי הַיָּם עֹבֵר אָרְחוֹת יַמִּים |
10) Lord, our Master, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! | י. יְיָ אֲדֹנֵינוּ מָה־אַדִּיר שִׁמְךָ בְּכָל־הָאָרֶץ |
Chapter 9
1) For the leader; upon the death of Labben. A psalm of David. | א. לַמְנַצֵּחַ עַל־מוּת לַבֵּן מִזְמוֹר לְדָוִד |
2) I will thank the Lord with all my heart; I will recount all Your wonders. | ב. אוֹדֶה יְיָ בְּכָל־לִבִּי אֲסַפְּרָה כָּל־נִפְלְאוֹתֶיךָ |
3) I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High. | ג. אֶשְׂמְחָה וְאֶעֶלְצָה בָךְ אֲזַמְּרָה שִׁמְךָ עֶלְיוֹן |
4) When my enemies turn back, they stumble and perish before You. | ד. בְּשׁוּב־אוֹיְבַי אָחוֹר יִכָּשְׁלוּ וְיֹאבְדוּ מִפָּנֶיךָ |
5) For You upheld my right and my cause; You sat on the throne judging righteously. | ה. כִּי־עָשִׂיתָ מִשְׁפָּטִי וְדִינִי יָשַׁבְתָּ לְכִסֵּא שׁוֹפֵט צֶדֶק |
6) You rebuked the nations, You destroyed the wicked, You blotted out their name forever and ever. | ו. גָּעַרְתָּ גוֹיִם אִבַּדְתָּ רָשָׁע שְׁמָם מָחִיתָ לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד |
7) The enemy is ended, ruined forever; the cities You uprooted—their memory has perished. | ז. הָאוֹיֵב תַּמּוּ חֳרָבוֹת לָנֶצַח וְעָרִים נָתַשְׁתָּ אָבַד זִכְרָם הֵמָּה |
8) But the Lord is enthroned forever; He has established His throne for judgment. | ח. וַיהוָה לְעוֹלָם יֵשֵׁב כּוֹנֵן לַמִּשְׁפָּט כִּסְאוֹ |
9) He judges the world in righteousness; He governs the peoples with equity. | ט. וְהוּא יִשְׁפֹּט־תֵּבֵל בְּצֶדֶק יָדִין לְאֻמִּים בְּמֵישָׁרִים |
10) The Lord will be a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. | י. וִיהִי יְיָ מִשְׂגָּב לַדָּךְ מִשְׂגָּב לְעִתּוֹת בַּצָּרָה |
11) Those who know Your name will trust in You, for You have not forsaken those who seek You, Lord. | יא. וְיִבְטְחוּ בְךָ יֹדְעֵי שְׁמֶךָ כִּי לֹא־עָזַבְתָּ דֹרְשֶׁיךָ יְיָ |
12) Sing praises to the Lord, who dwells in Zion; declare among the nations His deeds. | יב. זַמְּרוּ לַיהוָה ישֵׁב צִיּוֹן הַגִּידוּ בָעַמִּים עֲלִילוֹתָיו |
13) For He who avenges blood remembers them; He does not forget the cry of the humble. | יג. כִּי־דֹרֵשׁ דָּמִים אוֹתָם זָכָר לֹא־שָׁכַח צַעֲקַת עֲנָוִים |
14) Be gracious to me, Lord; see my affliction from those who hate me, You who lift me up from the gates of death, | יד. חָנֵּנִי יְיָ רְאֵה עָנְיִי מִשֹּׂנְאָי מְרוֹמְמִי מִשַּׁעֲרֵי מָוֶת |
15) That I may recount all Your praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion; I will rejoice in Your salvation. | טו. לְמַעַן אֲסַפְּרָה כָּל־תְּהִלָּתֶיךָ בְּשַׁעֲרֵי בַת־צִיּוֹן אָגִילָה בִּישׁוּעָתֶךָ |
16) The nations have sunk down in the pit they made; in the net they hid, their own foot has been caught. | טז. טָבְעוּ גוֹיִם בְּשַׁחַת עָשׂוּ בְּרֶשֶׁת זוּ טָמָנוּ נִלְכְּדָה רַגְלָם |
17) The Lord has made Himself known; He executes judgment. The wicked are snared in the work of their own hands. Meditation. Selah. | יז. נוֹדַע יְיָ מִשְׁפָּט עָשָׂה בְּפֹעַל כַּפָּיו נוֹקֵשׁ רָשָׁע הִגָּיוֹן סֶּלָה |
18) The wicked shall return to Sheol, all the nations that forget God. | יח. יָשׁוּבוּ רְשָׁעִים לִשְׁאוֹלָה כָּל־גוֹיִם שְׁכֵחֵי אֱלֹהִים |
19) For the needy shall not always be forgotten; the hope of the humble shall not perish forever. | יט. כִּי לֹא לָנֶצַח יִשָּׁכַח אֶבְיוֹן תִּקְוַת עֲנָוִים תֹּאבַד לָעַד |
20) Arise, Lord, let not man prevail; let the nations be judged before You. | כ. קוּמָה יְיָ אַל־יָעֹז אֱנוֹשׁ יִשָּׁפְטוּ גוֹיִם עַל־פָּנֶיךָ |
21) Put fear upon them, Lord; let the nations know they are but human. Selah. | כא. שִׁיתָה יְיָ מוֹרָה לָהֶם יֵדְעוּ גוֹיִם אֱנוֹשׁ הֵמָּה סֶּלָה |
