An Arkia Airlines aircraft flying from Rhodes to Tel Aviv on Monday evening with 160 passengers on board landed at Ben Gurion Airport after a serious problem with it’s front landing gear.
Akira flight IZ076 was declared under emergency status, prompting ambulances, fire trucks, and other emergency services to be placed on standby. The Israeli Air Force was also called in to escort the plane until it safely landed.
The plane landed on its forth attempt with sparks flying from the front wheel assembly until it stopped safely.
The plane departed from Rhodes 50 minutes later than it should have, and landed in Tel Aviv almost 2 hours later than anticipated.
